Voter turnout numbers?

How many eligible voters did not vote in the recent election?

How many in 1996?

You don’t seriously mean to tell me sup[/sup] that no one who reads these boards knows where to find this information?

C’mon, Dopers, you’re fallin’ asleep on the job here!

You don’t mean to seriously tell us, that with these figures having been printed on every news site on the internet, that you can’t find this on your own?

Stop bumping threads so quick. After a day or so, maybe one bump. In the future, bumps after six mere hours or a second bump gets a closed thread.

Manny, I have searched, and have only been able to find numbers on 1996.

And I didn’t bump it till it went to page two. If I waited 24 hours, it would likely be seen by the same “shift” of dopers: I was hoping to put it before the evening shift.

Excuse me for bumping twice in as many days, but that’s also, you’ll notice, the only two times I’ve ever bumped a thread: I usually get a better response than 0 for 2.

I popped over to MSNBC and threw the word “turnout” into the search engine.

Complete with chart.

You’re welcome.

Thanks, Manny.

I’d found that reference, but it only gives hard numbers up to 1996. I guess the answer is that there are no hard numbers yet for 2000.

From the article:

On the other hand, I don’t trust this number yet. On election day they were actually reporting numbers in the 60’s. Now suddenly it’s only 51. Who knows what it will be next week. I certainly don’t trust VNS worth a damn anymore.

Maybe we need a…no, I’m not gonna say it.

Not sure of your response, ren. You seem to start out by contradicting me–quoting from the article (which I have already read, btw). But then you point out exactly why I say there don’t seem to be any hard numbers yet.

maybe I’m turning into handy. Uh oh.
