There was a commercial recently, Ithink it was for Dell computers, that was narrated by the computer buyer’s dog. The dog’s speech was slow, and sounded a bit dull-witted but sincere. Because, you know, that’s how dogs talk.
The Republican campaign commercial for the Washington gubernatorial candidate uses the same “pouty-voice” when talking about the Democratic candidate. Bugs the heck out of me.
The Democratic senatorial candidate recites the mantra of “Saddam Hussein is a bad, bad, man…” Enough. The Liberal side all seem to recite the same mantra. The idea is to show that yes, we Saddam needed to go; but we did it stupidly. I get it. I agree. But the repetition makes the message seem insincere. It’s like saying “God Bless America” or “Insh Allah” or “God Be Praised” after every speech. It just sounds too pro forma.
IMO the candidates should stick to the problems we face, and tell us what they will do to fix them. They can tell us why their opponents’ positions are wrong. But I wish they would stop with the intelligence-insutling voiceovers and the platitudes.
Actually, the idea is to counteract her infamous “daycares” speech. Because taken out of context (which is happening - it’s being replayed every time I turn around), it vaguely sounds like she was pro al-Queda. So, she’s trying to make sure that people know that she really thinks terrorists are bad.
Unfortunately the Democratic senatorial candidate was forced to defend a statement she made that has been used out of context by her Republican term limits are good for everyone but me candidate. In an answer to a students question, she stated that OBL had done good things like build schools and daycares and put many people to work. Of course her opponent didn’t think folks would want to hear the question asked. The question was “Why do the people of Afghanistan help someone like Bin Laden?”. I have already decided who I am voting for, my tv remote has been getting a workout lately.
