Ugh, this has been bothering me all evening. I know that I watched a film a few years ago that featured “Wabash Cannonball” between scenes. Probably 3-4 times. It may have been a documentary, but I suspect it was fiction along the lines of “Places in the Heart.” Much love if you know the film in question. I believe it was in B/W or sepia. The song sounded very close to the Doc Watson version.
Few years ago? pretty vague, any more info… time movie was released? time it was set in? who it starred?
Ok… I’ll still take a shot…Maybe… Sweet Dreams?
(Sorry, I didn’t think I had actually hit “post” on this thread! :o)
To clarify, I believe the movie was actually filmed in the 80s or 90s, but was a period piece. It may have been about trains and hoboes from the Great Depression. (I don’t think it was “Grapes of Wrath,” but that’s the feel I’m getting.) It’s just a vague memory, so I don’t even remember any actors…as I said, it may have even been a documentary or mini-series along the lines of Ken Burns’ “Jazz”. But for whatever reason I remember really liking it. I thought of it the other night because we watched this creepy movie called “We Need to Talk About Kevin,” and that movie contained some similar songs between scenes, so it jogged my memory a bit.
Is there a good website along the lines of IMDB, but about songs used in films? I tried songfacts.com and a couple others, but they seem to mostly have newer music/films.
Maybe one of these?
