Wait a minute, TubaDiva...

Curtis LeMay started a thread to see how many people would like to turn polling on here at the SDMB, and I’m guessing the response he was hoping for from an administrator was either a yes or no, not complain that the thread was in the wrong forum and abruptly close it.

The thread is in the correct forum as he was asking about a board function. If he’d start it in IMO, a moderator would have moved it here.

Come on, be real for a second, please.

Or if it was in the wrong forum, just move it- not close it!

Hey Look! More pissing and moaning at moderator actions.

He can ask in IMHO if people would like to weigh in on their views on the subject – and it’s a judgment call as to whether such a thread would be moved over here – though I hope not, as it has not been our policy to run this place by popularity vote or polls so it really is an IMHO issue in every way.

I closed the thread rather than move it because I want him to restart it in the right place, looking to counsel this poster a bit. He’s still finding his way around here.

Thanks for replying. Makes sense. Hopefully he’ll see this post so he’ll know what to do.

Hmmm, I thought that calling it a poll on whether they should allow the poll feature was a bit of a joke. I think he purposely and properly put it in ATMB because he wanted a real answer from you. Doing so right here in this thread might take some of the annoyance away from your thread closure.

I really can’t see how polling could add significantly (or at all, really) to moderator or server work load.

We hope so too. Not always easy to get your bearings around here, starting out, there’s a lot of little fiddly stuff that makes finding your way in the community not the easiest thing in the world, especially for someone who apparently just admitted he was in the eighth grade. I hope everyone helps out here.

OK, Tuba. I’ll help out. I started a proper ATMB thread about this:
