Wait, wait...Why Does a Killer Robot Have an Austrian Accent?

So - ‘American’ is a language now? Sheeesh…

:wink:

:::::Terminator walks in, shoots hijackers:::::

[Austrian accent]Hasta la vista, babies.[/Austrian accent] :smiley:

I think you have to melt hijackers, we’re made of the same stuff as the T-2000…
Sorry about the hijack.

Oh, dude, you are, like, so totally wrong! There is so totally a California accent! Fer sure!

Seriously, I don’t know what you’d call an “American” accent. Is that how they speak in Brooklyn? Los Angeles? New Orleans? Saying Schwartzenegger has an Austrian accent is correct, because he pronounces certain sounds the way they pronounce them in Austria. It’s not correct to say he has a German accent, because that’s not how Germans prounounce things. At least, so I assume. All you dern furriners sound the same to me. Any way, the point is that an accent denotes what region of the world you come from, not what language you first learned to speak.

Nah, keep hijackin’. I get happy when I start a thread that runs this long.

I do wonder if the mods want to move it to GDs, though.

Can I just take a moment to say, I just like to say ‘Meatbags’?
“No, I’m afraid there isn’t time.”

This gag was used in one of the comic series, actually. A gang of Terminators uses the ‘backup time machine’ to travel back to 198X and takes a human prisoner with them. Natch, before they come back, they jam a plasma pistol (well, a ray gun of some kind) into his gut, and extract it after the jaunt.
