Waiting over 2 hours for fast food

So in my crap-hole hometown, a new Rallys opened up. Same as Checkers if you are familiar with that. And according to Facebook posts by my family and friends who still live there, they waited over two hours to get served there. I would chalk it up to the town not having much to do, but a new Sonic opened up in Maryland where I live that has numerous fast food choices and the wait there was over THREE hours to get a damn fast food burger and such.

Would you wait that long for fast food? Why would anybody?

Fifteen minutes would be pushing it for me, even for something like a doctor’s appointment.

Whenever I’m in Georgetown (DC), which is once or twice a year, I see people lined up 100+ deep just to buy a cupcake. A cupcake! I don’t care how tasty a cupcake might be, it ain’t worth an hour+ wait standing in line for.

We had a Jack in the Box open up nearby relatively recently (by relatively, I think within the last decade). When it first opened, it drew lines that actually caused backups on the interstate. They had cops out directing traffic to get in and out of the parking lot.

People like novel things.

I’ve yet to visit.

“You know that all of Chef Maurice’s creations are spoken for weeks in advance.”

Points to anyone who recognizes the source.

When the first White Castle opened in Monmouth county (New Jersey), all the ex-New Yorkers headed for the opening. We (being ex-New Yorkers) also headed over and saw the insane line and went elsewhere to eat. So I guess the answer is, no I would not wait that long but I’ve seen people do it even in an area with plenty choices.

Jack in the Box is novel??

The best part is, people could have driven to the next closest Rallys AND back in a shorter amount of time.

It was the first one in Ohio.

There was a Long John silvers sharing the parking lot with it, as well as a Wendy’s, Burger King, McDonalds, and a KFC right across the street, not to mention quite a number of sit-down restaurants within a quarter mile.

I wouldn’t wait 2 hours for the best restaurant in town, let alone [del]Ghetto Burger[/del] I mean Checkers. It’s barely worth the normal wait at the drive-thru window with no delays.

Are you talking about a 3-hour line to be seated, or about sitting at a table waiting for a burger ordered 3 hours ago?

Which seems more likely to you, given the contents of the OP?

Don’t forget the Dish Of The Day was alive when you ordered.

Sitting in the drive through for over 2 hours waiting to order.

20 minutes is about all I would wait for one of my favorite restaurants. For fast food, I’d say about 5 minutes would be all I could take.

What if that’s the only entertainment in town?

I’ve waited two hours for a table in a fine dining establishment, but my wait was at the bar and the time flew by.

Long fast food lines? I’d be afraid someone I know would see me in line.

Same type thing a happened here in Dallas when In-and-Out Burger opened up. I waited 6 months before even attempting to go.

And when I did, it wasn’t even all that remarkable. I mean, it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t:“OMG Great!!” either.

Ha! My brother and his friend took the day off to go to a comic book store yesterday, and ran in to this very event. Traffic backed up all over the place and it was on the news. He was charmed by your home town

Me, no I would not wait in line for 2 hours for fast food. I’ll admit one time I did wait 2 hours for Cheesecake Factory in Columbus but I was in college and stuck in Columbus for some reason and bored.

when we had a home town buffet first open you couldn’t get in with out a hour-hour in a half wait for the first month …it lasted about 10 years …
