Walking with dinosaurs-bbc

This is one of the most DISTURBING documentaries I have ever watched. Watching animals eat their own young to “save” them from predators just confirms to me that we all live in a freak show called LIFE.

All these things do all day is hunt other animals to kill and eat. (except the few who eat only plants.)

All I can think of while watching is that we humans are no different. We just work and then pay others to go “hunting” for us so that we can eat and stay alive.

If there was no more food, we would eat our dogs and cats and then our neighbors before they ate us.

It is brilliantly made and even shows two big dinos having sex, shitting a “ton” ( I swear that is what I heard) of poop a DAY, and even talks about their gas and you get to hear them farting.

Even contemplating 140,000,000 years ago depresses me.

Anyone else have a strong reaction to this?

An incredible series, have watched and rewatched it many times.

Unfortunately it makes me wistful thinking about seeing the age myself.

This is probably a result of selection bias – the show’s producers are showing you “exciting” carnivores more often than “boring” herbivores. But in real life, herbivores always greatly outnumber large predators. Each large predator will kill many herbivores over the course of a life, and will require a sufficient population for support. If the ratio was anything close to even, the herbivores would be quickly wiped out, and the predators would starve to death too.

Nature, red in tooth and claw.
