Walmart wants me to create an account on my 3 year old Vizio TV. Will I get spammed?

I created a Vizio account three years ago when I setup my tv.

Walmart bought Vizio. I’m getting Nag screens to link or create an account when I go to my home screen.

Anyone already created a link to Walmart?
Are you getting slammed with sales ads?

I like my Vizio account. Its never spammed me. I assume it tracks which streaming Apps that I use regularly.

I have a Walmart account and use their App for orders. I really don’t want it linked to my tv.

Unless Walmart gives me an option to decline sales ads.

If you do they’ll be able to watch you eat.

Maybe I should moon my tv?

I compared Roku and Vizio before buying 3 years ago. I’m very glad that I choose Vizio. I find the menus easier to use.

Ironically Roku was purchased too. By Fox Corporation.

Let’s not get hasty.

I don’t use those kinds of accts.

Go to App set up in the TV and click off to all they offer.

Periodically I get a come on..I click the the x and move on.

They’re not gonna get me!!0

I’m going to very hesitantly and with much caveats say no, they will not spam you, as long as you set your preferences to not send you emails, and unsubscribe from any they do send.

I have a normal Walmart account that I use to get curbside delivery of shampoo or whatever, and looking back through all of my emails from them, they are all directly related to orders and logging in. No ads or other junk. Additionally the order emails themselves don’t contain additional ads, beyond a standard footer with links to Walmart.

My conclusion is that Walmart in general is well behaved regarding unwanted email. I cannot guarantee their media division feels the same way. They might email you an ad every time you use the volume button, but that would be inconsistent with the behavior I’ve experienced from them.

I will also jump on the tentative wagon here. If you already have a Walmart account, you probably won’t see any more ads than you already do.

I would not expect changing your login to a TV service to show you more ads on your TV now than they already do, either.

I’ve used Walmart to log in to other TV services, and I’ve never seen any ads I wouldn’t see if I just had signed up for the services directly.
