I’m getting online ads asking me to sign up with Yow. TV. It’s a website that offers movies and tv shows for online viewing. It’s supposedly free but you have to create an account with them to use it.
I can’t point to anything in particular but for some reason I’m having my suspicions. Is this a legit offer or a scam? I tried searching online but all the sites talking about Yow. TV seem to be affiliated with them.
Okay, here’s an example of the suspicious stuff I’m talking about. I did not put any links in the OP. But apparently when you type the letters y-o-w-t-v in a sentence, it automatically creates a link to their website.
I’ve edited the OP to eliminate the links.
I think that’s automatic when you type thing-dot-domain and the forum software recognizes the domain
Potato.tv for example
Hey guys - I started YOW.tv. It’s a NEW streaming platform consisting of a boutique library of hand-selected films. Think of us as your “personal shopper” for Indies. If it’s on YOW.tv, you can be certain that it was chosen for a reason. We’re currently in beta (which explains why everything is free). We ask for either an email address or phone number to stream so that you can create a profile, stop/start where you left off, create watchlists and even interact with others within the platform if you so choose. We do NOT sell your information to third parties. We’re here to change the way indie films are distributed, seen, and discovered. I hope you enjoy it!
Also - @Jophiel is correct. The name is actually the domain as well. This automatically creates a hyperlink straight to the website. I’m here for any questions you may have!
