A comprehensive chronological collection released in bi-annual waves absolutely humiliates the disappointingly assembled box-set of “Best of” discs by Warner Bros… “Best Of”? DVD collectors haven’t accepted “Best Of” discs since “The Simpsons” started being released in complete seasons. Add the fact that Disney is releasing their most controversial shorts uncensored (except for that Three Little Pigs short which was edited by Disney himself around the original release date, and even then, the original unedited segment was still on the disc). There were plently of directions they could have taken collector’s style approach in; mainly comprehensive collections by directors. Since the style of the cartoons varied wildly by directors, that would have been an absolutely pertinent path to take. “Warner Bros. Animation - Complete Tashlin Collection Vol. 1”; wouldn’t that have been great?
Too bad Disney cartoons aren’t nearly as entertaining as Looney Tunes! For being the symbol of a massive media empire, Mickey Mouse never had much of a personality, or many exciting or funny adventures.
