Wanna buy a lung.....

I try to participate in some charity event of some kind every year, to make up for the damage I’ve inflicted on the world, the previous 11 months. This year’s lucky winner is…THE COWALUNGA…
The Cowalunga is a three day, 180 mile bike tour (August 11-13) through Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. The proceeds benefit the American Lung Association. Part of the reason I chose the Cowalunga is that its only 3 days and my office wouldn’t let me have the week off to do the AIDS ride. The other part is that both my sisters, my mother and I have asthsma, although mine is much less severe. The thing that tipped it in for me was that some of the proceeds go to CampACTION which is a summer camp for kids with severe asthsma…the kind that doesn’t let you be a kid.

The mods have been kind enough to allow me to start this ONE thread.
If there are any dopers out there who would like to contribute to this event, please email me. Just so you know,

  1. This is a total legit ride (check out http://www.cowalunga.com)

  2. Any checks or money orders MUST be made out to the American Lung Association, if you would like to donate, I will be happy to send you a pre-stamped and addressed envelope and a receipt for your taxes.

  3. This is a flat pledge. NOT per mile. Any and all donations are welcome, but I’d rather not accept any over $10. If you would like to contribute more than that, I can give you info on making the donation direct to the ALA.

  4. Hi Opal

Anyway thanks for just reading this far. Even if I don’t get a single pledge out of this, at least I’ll know I’ve spread the word.

Thank you
Shay

Sounds like fun! Good luck, and keep the rubber side down…

I’m in. Anybody else?

Cap’n, I’ve never done this before so here goes…

My first (and only) cyberhugs

I knew I could count on you!!!

You’ve made little wooden boy very happy!

I’ve just noticed that I’ve committed the unpardonable sin of making Hi Opel #4 not # 3.

Please forgive me

I just want to PUBLICLY thank TubaDiva for her kind and generous donation. Just recently I found out that both my sister and her husband carry the gene for Cystic Fybrosis and as a future aunt this news makes this ride and cause even more personal.

Thank you Tuba for all your help and generosity.
You are a good soul.
