Wanna play Botticelli?

You need to specify the EM you’re not. “No” isn’t enough.

I’m disqualified? Now I really want my money back! (Kidding, kidding. I do think Johnny needs a further explication of the rules, as I see you have started to do. He did say he has never played before. I think he is playing it like straight 20Q.)

All I was doing was saying that no, it wasn’t whoever he thought it was, and then I edited to say that it was not Eugene McCarthy, who I thought it was who he thought it was.

The only actor I can think of who’s famous for multiple roles is Peter Sellers. Obviously that’s not it. So I don’t know who you thought it might be.

That could be. The link to the rules is in the OP. They’re way better than I could try to paraphrase. The only variations (so far) are that we’re going for two initials, not just one, and we’re having to adjust to the Edit function.

The key missing ingredient is that “no” is not a complete answer to an Indirect Question. It’s great for a Direct Question. But the Indirect Questions need "No, I’m not <whoever you hinted at with your question> OR <sombody ELSE who fits the description you guessed with>. In other words, if the Guesser’s question allows it, the Chooser can respond “No, I’m not XX” even if XX is somebody else with the same attributes as the Guesser’s question.

Example: JJ

Q: are you a famous preacher?
A: No, I’m not Jim Jones. (Even though Jesse Jackson would work, too.)

Just as long as it’s not just plain “No” to an Indirect Question.

According to the link, if I don’t know the guesser’s person, then s/he can ask direct questions. Right?

Woo hoo! Eddie Money.
My DQ: Are you involved in acting in any way?

Okay on your explanation, but you need to specify who you’re not that matches the Guesser’s criteria or else the Guesser gets a Direct Question.

My guess describes Eddie Murphy.

DQ: Are you currently living?

No.

No.

Yes, that’s right.

For EM:

Were you in a John Wayne movie about game hunting in Africa?

No, I’m not Elsa Martinelli.

DQ (from Eddie Merckx)

Were you an artist?

For EM:

Are you a Nashville-based bass player?

No.

No, and I don’t know who you’re thinking of.

Omigod, somebody else remembers “Coronet Blue?” I thought I was the only one.

Edgar Meyer.

DQ: Were you in sports?

Are you known for your involvement in a famous United States Supreme Court case?

No.

We’ve moved well past it, but…

I have no idea. Name your FC and get a DQ.*

Frank Celebrezze. Do I get a DQ in this go-round, or has that ship sailed?

Sorry to step out; the person was guessed so a DQ does nothing for me. However, to satisfy curiosity: Frank Church.

Oh, and the state was Idaho.
