Just wanted to bump this thread to congratulate the UVa fans, and wish everyone luck tomorrow (of course, Texas and OU can’t both be happy, but you know what I mean).
I was nervous for the first quarter, but UVA settled down and played very well for the rest of the game. Next Saturday will be a huge game. If UVA can pull off a win at FSU, that will set up some great momentum for Miami and Maryland at home.
Speaking of nervous…I’m so jacked about Cal - USC that I can’t get any work done. I’m just hanging out here and on Cal message boards…
Another Boilermaker checkin in.
Things look pretty good so far. The offense looks unstoppable and the defense is improving. We broke one curse against the Irish and will probably break another vs. PSU. Then in the meat of the conference schedule we get Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio St at home.
Boiler Up!
Orton for Heisman.
Pitt fan here. Say what you want about the Big East, we’ve still got our BCS bid and in a few years the Big East will be back. We just need time to rebuild. GO BIG EAST!
I’d also like to wish nothing but gut-wrenching losses and pain to the three teams Whose Names Shall Not Be Spoken.
Only a few more weeks until the Big East gets to prove that it’s the strongest basketball conference in the country (and getting even stronger with the loss of three perennial doormats).
Yeah, 17 TDs/0 interceptions…hard to argue with those kinda stats.
poogas21, the Big East should add Fresno State. They’re always whining about not getting any BCS respect. Of course their travel schedule would be brutal, but, hey…
Good lord is Purdue a good team this year. Fantastic game last week, and I’m an Irish alum.
I just wanted to point and laugh at the Michigan fans in here. I see that we’re still playing the childish word games, are we? Notre Lame - that’s all you’ve got? How sad. Maybe next year the circle jerkers can come up with something a bit more creative.
FWEET! 15 yards for trash talking.
They played very well. Congrats. I was in a sports bar in Chester SC for the game. It was a sad, sad sight by the end of the night. Poor, poor boohoobabyboy Bowden.
Ha ha …hee haw ahw …you think… oh my …he he …aw aw…guzz…the big…oh my god…
Ahem. Bet you think this the year the Steelers make it back too ?
Just one more thing.
ACC
baby.
Ah yes I should have figured it’d be THAT conference.
Regardless it’s no longer 1990. There’s a new basketball powerhouse conference.
Let’s look at the new Big East from the top on down:
UConn, Syracuse, Louisville, Pitt, Cincy, Marquette, DePaul. Pretty prestigious top seven. The past two ncaa champions are included. One of the most high profile programs (Louisville).
Face it, your acquisitions may have bought you more football prestige (though the SEC is much stronger), you’ve weakened your basketball league by adding two doormats and one mid-level program.
Money may buy three spineless univerisities, but it can’t buy titles.
Wait till you start playing top-25 teams. Wisconsin has played 2 big ten games, faced 5 different quarterbacks, and none of them were able to do
anything against WI’s D.
The winner of WI-Ohio State tomorrow wins the Big Ten.

Two of five again.

But hey, you guys are like the little brother we never had.
Football? Hoo hoo hoo. Lord have mercy. Let’s see your ACC have to play teams like Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, LSU, and Arkansas week. After. Week.
SEC is by far the strongest conference in the league.
Not supported by the latest rankings. 3 ACC teams in top ten, 5 in top twenty five.
You guys got 5 in top 25 but only 2 in top ten.

Get it right man.
Yeah, cause we have to play each other.
That was easy. Next?
At this point, there are only 2 top ten teams any SEC team has to play. There are three top ten ACC teams that any other team has to play. Those sour grapes just melt in your mouth eh ?
I’m a Mississippi State fan myself, and losing to Maine and Vandy in the same year is a new low for us. Maybe we’ll beat UAB today, but probably not.
That’s what I’m saying. The ACC’s rep is magnified by the fact that they don’t have a lot of internal competition. In the SEC, every other school is a powerhouse, and the only reason the top ten doesn’t reflect that is that we have to play in a tough freaking conference. Hell, FSU is only ACC because they couldn’t make a living in the SEC. Oh, and Virginia. Uh huh. Temple. North Carolina. Akron. Syracuse. Clemson. Give me a freaking break. Playing high school teams does not a top-ten ranking make.
Sour grapes? Nah. Everybody wants the SEC to NOT be the toughest league in the nation. But it is. Just like always. I’d love to see Miami play Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, LSU, and Georgia in a season, and see where there rank would be.
