Wanted! City of Heroes Players!

Everyone’s getting a tailor token when the servers come back after maintenance.

Actually, it is one tailor token per costume slot. Which will put my main at about 82 tokens. At least now I have something to spend them on.

The new animation choices for Super Strength are nice.

Oh, yes. I’ve wanted the Ground Punch for a long time; classic HULK SMASH! And the other alternates seem more…vicious somehow than the old versions; since all my SS characters are brutes that’s appropriate.

I also like having red Imps covered with black fire, zombies covered in green fire, villainside electricity that isn’t red, purple crystal golems and so on. All in all the new stuff is great fun.

The only real hang ups I have for the new SS animations is the timing for KO Blow and Footstomp. KO Blow feels like it hangs back for just a little bit too long, and the ground punch feels too quick for the power it delivers. But there is not really anything they can do about it, since they have to match the animation times for the originals. So all in all, I am very happy with them.

I need to re-roll Scraptacular as an MA/WP scrapper with the new MA animations…

Double XP and Account Reactivation weekend, October 8-10. If you are curious about the changes in I16, here is your chance to check them out for free. And level a lot while you do it.

Brainiac4 - sorry about bailing on you last night. I told you babies are a major time sink.

Ah, damn. I meant to log on and see if my account was still activated, but then I…um…didn’t. Next issue, maybe.

You still can actually. They extended the weekend until midnight tonight because of the holiday weekend. (Not that I ever got a day off work for it, but it is a real holiday.)

This might be a longshot, but is there anybody in Champion who’d like to do the Imperious Task Force tomorrow (Saturday 10/17)? My partner is coveting the Roman armor, but we’ve had a heck of a time getting a task force together and the few we’ve been invited to fell apart pretty quickly.

No worries. I did go down under a pile of bad guys, but them’s the breaks. I took a lot of them out with me. And then I went back and beat the crap out of all of them.

Bwa ha ha.

If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the Going Rogue preview they showed at Hero Con. Couple new powersets, some more information on how the system will work and graphics upgrades. I was happy to see (as someone on a low end system) that they won’t be raising the minimum specs but rather adding a whole new “Ultra” level of graphics with reflections, dynamic shadows, etc. Yeah, Praetoria without the glitz looked a little sad but, in reality, it shouldn’t be any worse than what we currently see in Paragon City. If I can live with Steel Canyon and Founders Falls, there’s no reason why low-end Praetoria should be a problem. Even better for people with real computers, all of Paragon city will be getting the new graphics treatment.

This is just a preview of some stuff to get attention; I assume the full expansion will offer more than what the demo showed.

Man, I totally want to have Mastermind powers as a hero.

Oy, you folks are making me miss playing. Soon as I get moved into my new place, I’ll have to look into getting my account re-activated.

Winter has arrived in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles.

Are the Winter missions/badges/attainable gear worth a renewal for a casual player, IYO?

Only a couple of new badges, one for logging in. (Which I will have to start doing on my alts. :p) The Lord Winter is a pretty fun instance raid type encounter. I really don’t know what is new for costume pieces this year, I lose track of those, although you can buy a respec with candy canes during the event.

There’s also a snowflakes emote. No new costume pieces. One nice thing; the Lord Winter micro-raid nets you 20 Candy Canes; a lot better and less irritating than getting 5 Canes for doing the Baby New Year mission for the five millionth time.

I’m always late to the party (except in real life, where I’m always the first to arrive); I just played my first Architect missions last night. They were enjoyable and clever, though I wondered why a “feline” character was shooting things at me (this was a 4-star-rated story).

And then…well, I didn’t really mean to, but before I knew it I had created my own mission. I had just popped into the story/mission creator just to get a glimpse, and before I knew it I had created a story, three custom enemies, and a mission. Also before I knew it, it was midnight.

Fun stuff. I can’t wait to get back in there and tweak the character models a bit.
