I want to start this off by saying that I received permission to post this wanted ad from the awesome MPSIMS moderators. Thank you guys!
To start, I’m the publications manager for an anime convention in San Jose, CA. I’m looking for graphic designers who are interested in working on Print projects - designing flyers, banners and the program guide/booklet which will be handed to all of the projected 10,000 members who will be attending this year.
I am sorry to say that this is a volunteer position (all staff positions within the convention are volunteer), so you will not receive any type of reimbursement for your time and effort except a free pass to the convention.
BUT! This is a great portfolio and experience builder as your work will be seen by thousands of people, some of which are international guests who will be perusing your work at the convention. In the past I have received small contract offers for my designers (which were separate from the convention) just because someone who saw one of our flyers and happened to like the design and wanted to hire them for another project. This could be you! Think of the practical experience! Think of the exposure!
You won’t be paid, but this opportunity is basically free advertisement for your skills. All you have to do is design, and your work will be produced and distributed to thousands!
