Wapo election visualization, "political winds"

This may have come up in one of the election megathreads, but I drowned the last time I tried to swim in there. The map shows change in voter participation and overall dem/pub change.

Wapo has a soft (i.e. purely optional) paywall.

I don’t have much to add – I just hadn’t seen a visualization like this before and thought others might like to see it. The print edition had it as a big 2-page centerfold. Online, the lines move!

My eyes gravitated toward regions of the country I’m interested in for personal reasons, and I was surprised to see a republican shift in and around El Paso, TX. The county still went blue, just not as much as it did 4 years ago.

Almost everywhere saw increasing voter participation. Notable exceptions being much of NY, southern SF bay area, MS. There are probably more that I didn’t notice.
