If you block the vent holes on top of the monitor, you will raise the internal temperature, which may cause premature failure.
Nothing wrong in my book. However, it’s not like the top of your monitor will keep it heated to the temperature necessary to retard bacterial growth. In general, food should be held at 140[sup]o[/sup] farenheit or above for adequate prevention of harmful bacterial growth. Link.
And yeah, it may harm your monitor by interupting airflow.
