Warnings in deleted threads

If you get a warning in a thread that disappears, do you still have a warning?

I think I know what particular thread you’re referring to, but as I recall, while a couple of posters received mod notes, no one received a warning. But I would guess if you get a warning in a thread that later gets cornfielded, the warning doesn’t go away since you got the warning when the thread was still active. Just like if the thread was locked instead of deleted.

It was the grammarian thread, right?

No specific thread.

As I see it, if a thread is deleted then the poster receiving the derision probably deserved it. While it’s true that a poster committed an offence and was warned for it, if the thread no longer exists, then the offence doesn’t either. (Yes, it’s still out there in Mod World, but it’s effectively non-existent.)

I was wondering what happened to it. It turned rather amusing, actually.

Ok, I had some fun un-banning the sock I made back when we were having some board issues, then giving that sock a warning, and finally banning myself again. Wheee!

Anyway, there are a couple of different ways that we can delete threads. No matter which way I do it, the warning stays in the system. Also, in the User Control Panel where it lists the warning, where there should be a link to the thread where the warning occurred, it simply says “private” with no link.

If I’m convicted of attempted murder, and the guy later dies from that crime, does that sentence still apply?

Not reported for forum change.

We also generally don’t delete threads. They are closed and moved to where posters can’t see them. I’m the thread mention earlier there were some notes but no warnings.

If the banhammer falls in a deserted forest, does it make you frown?
