Was "BLAK" Coke a Flop?

I think the flavor is kinda neat, kinda interesting. I’d drink it every once in awhile if it weren’t for the god-awful artificial sweetener aftertaste.

Blak Coke. A veritible train wreck on your tongue

It wasn’t quite as bad as I thought it would be. Although I’ve not bought another one.

(why don’t they bring back Coca Cola Gold?) :frowning:

What’s Coca Cola Gold? Google yields no relevant results.

Alan Smithee, he told me they were going to be launched on the Asian market (Malaysia first, specifically). But France makes sense because the company my father works for bought out the Pechiney group and a lot of their production plants were still in Europe (I don’t know how many of those assets they retained since they were hit with antitrust regulations by the EU). My father only works in the US so anything he developed was probably produced out of the plants he manages in the Midwest.

I LOVE Coke BlaK, and so do my girlfriend and my housemates. It’s expensive ($6 for a 4-pack of the small bottles!?) but so damn awesome, especially when I have to study or write all night! It’s good stuff, so I’ll probably stockpile some if it’s going to be discontinued.

I second this thought. X2 even.

Oh, yes I would.

AMEN!! I loved Diet Vanilla Coke!

You’re probably thinking of 7-UP Gold.

For the record, I and everyone I know who tried Diet Vanila Coke were agreed that the stuff didn’t even taste like something that was made for human consumption. Some of us thought, for example, that it tasted like some kind of industrial cleaning chemical.

So, in conclusion, you guys are nuts.

I’m *still * in mourning.

I’ve tried Blak Coke. Nasty, gross stuff. Right up there (down there?) with Lemon Coke, the drink that tasted like someone had spilled lemon-scented furniture polish into the Coke vat.

Coke with Lime is pretty much the only recent offering that’s worth keeping around. I liked Diet Coke with Splenda, since it had less of a chemical aftertaste than regular Diet Coke, but it seems to have flopped.

So…(how to put this?)…what are you wearing?

Why is Blak so expensive? That’s the main reason I haven’t tried it, though I’ve been intrigued on many occasions.

In related news, I better start stocking up on Diet Black Cherry Vanilla Coke. :frowning: Now, if they cancel Coke Zero, we’re gonna have words.

Because it’s Special. The high price means that if it tastes like shit to you, you obviously don’t have a pallet refined enough to appreciate it.

Or a palate even…

I haven’t tried it, so I won’t miss anything. What I have tried recently, by accident, is Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper. Good stuff!

Ugh–I can’t believe they stopped making this. I’ve now switched almost exclusively to Diet Dr. Pepper, though I can deal with an occasional plain Diet Coke.

Maybe I should try Coke Zero.

As for BlaK Coke, I’ve never tried it, but one of my best friends was passed a sample while coming out a museum in Chicago. He took two sips, and looked for a garbage can to discard the bottle, as it was not to his liking.

He wasn’t the only one; he said the can was full of half-consumed bottles.

I drink carbonated soft drinks maybe twice a month, but I could drink Coca-Cola Blãk several times a week if it weren’t so costly and hard to come by. It goes great with Bacardi on the rocks! Sorry to hear it’s being taken off the market. I guess the manufacturer didn’t have much faith in it to begin with.

I doubt the name was Ebonics-inspired. Everyday on my way to work I pass a bakery named Eet Gud. Funny spellings are just a common marketing gimmick.

Aw, Blak is getting discontinued? I’m one of the weird few who likes the stuff. I’m even willing to forgive it the aftertaste. I bought a lot of it back when Safeway was promoting it at really cheap (bastards decided to limit it to 16 bottles per day once I tried to buy $40 at once). Haven’t touched it since, though. It’s stupidly overpriced as is.

OOPS … sciurophobic got it right. 7-up Gold.
