CSI is the pinnacle. No one has come close. I haven’t seen enough of NY to have an opinion so take that as such.
CSI: Miami is a little different for me in that I love the person in charge. Oh for god’s sake Yes I have had sex dreams about David Caruso. What of it.
I have no argument about Grissom and crew (who are believable) vs Horatio and his crew. CSI Miami is an outrage.
Fact is though, I recently saw an early CSI Miami rerun.
The episode included Caruso, and a lady who also used to be a detective on NYPD Blue. The acting was pretty normal. Caruso didn’t strike those godawful poses nor clobber us with his hambone lines,
And when I play my memory tapes of NYPD Blue, Caruso did okay.
But in CSI Miami, show management took over and dictated the offal that we see now. It seems to be be manna for the morons who enjoy the show, thinking it’s good drama. I don’t watch it anymore. I can’t. It hurts too much.
By all accounts, Peterson was getting bored and wanted out – he’s going to be doing live theater, I believe. I see no reason why this would be a face-saving story: CSI is a huge money-maker for all concerned, and there would be no reason to get rid of the main star.

Why was Warwicke killed? I rather liked him.
Anyone could play Grissom. I saw nohing special about his character. I didn’t dislike him at all. But to me he was little more than a deliverer of lines.[/QUOTE]
As annoying as I find CSI in general, I can’t agree. Petersen’s performance always stuck me as subtle and nuanced; he’s interesting enough to watch that he makes the bad science almost tolerable.
They knew they were only gonna have him for a short amount of time, so they introduced him in one episode, used another two or three to get his character acclimated, then threw a curveball about his past that left it open…
…Then during the last episodes the demons of his past came to light and he had to make em right…and…well, I won’t tell you the end, buts it’s FANTASTIC!
(There was a budding romance with another CSI: but I won’t tell you who…)
