Was that Louis Prima? TV commercial tune

I happened to catch apart of a commercial the other day. Pieces of pork and beef were being dropped into a stack while in the background a ban could be heard, and a man’s voice sayin “oink” and “moo” repeatedly. Anyone know who, and where to get it?

If it was a big band swing-sounding song, it might have been “Boogie in the Barnyard” by Louis Jordan.

Mrs. H insists that it is a commercial for Kellogg’s Special K cereal. It was Big band… Maybe you’ve got it.

Boogie in the Barnyard.

Sounds sort of like it, but I’m not sure… maybe… Voice doesn’t seem right, and nary an oink or moo in that clip. Hmm…

Huh? “Nary” means “not any”. In that one-minute clip from Boogie in the Banyard, there are four “oink-oink” and four “moo-moo”.

Sorry, I’ll have to try again. I only got 29 seconds.

Turns out the windows media sample is different from the Real Audio sample.
.
This is indeed the song, but I don’t think it’s the same singer.

Yeah, the Amazon.com sample is by someone named Ernie Savage (who I have never heard of, even though I’m seriously into this type of music). The original (and the one in the commercial) are by Louis Jordan. The Amazon.com write-up even says: ““Swing This” is a recording of classic Swing and Jump Blues tunes which includes material by Louis Jordan, Duke Ellington, and Charlie Parker.”

Too cool. now I’m going to have to buy that disk.

Thanks, all!

Please, I implore you, buy “The Best of Louis Jordan” instead of what is essentially a cover album:

The song you like is his, and he really was an important figure in American music. Read the album reviews on this page and see if you’re not convinced! I own it myself, and highly recommend it as a great introduction to Jordan’s music. And of course it has “Barnyard Boogie” on it.

Thanks! I’ll be looking for it at my local.
