Was there a "Push" thread?

I searched but it’s too common a word for me to find it if there was.

I just saw the movie today. (It finally got to the cheap theatre.)

I had seen the trailers, which looked good. But the buzz was not promising. So I half-expected to be let down. Maybe for that reason, I ended up being quite impressed. I thought it was a pretty good movie. Interesting concept, they held it together in the execution, good performances, and quality special effects - I certainly felt I got my time and money’s worth.

But I did not know that this was apparently intended as the first part of what I presume was supposed to be a multi-film series (I’m assumed a trilogy was planned). This movie ends very open-ended. Which is especially annoying because given the relatively lackluster box office, the sequels may never get made.

Hopefully it’ll find an audience with its DVD release. I do think it’s the kind of movie that will do better on DVD (following the plot required you to pay attention which is a turn-off for many viewers).

I really liked it and I’m sorry it didn’t do better and thusly won’t have any sequels. Better than the word of mouth, by far.

The best comparison I’d have is to The Matrix. Which makes me wonder if maybe it’s just as well we’ll never see the next two movies.

One thing I found when checking IMDB is that Push is apparently a popular title for movies recently. In addition to the 2009 subject of this post, there were two movies titled Push released in 2008, two more apiece in 2006 and 2007, and one apiece in 2004 and 2005. Plus another one scheduled for a 2010 release. That’s ten movies with the same title in seven years.
