Was this a movie?

50s noirish. A guy wants to infiltrate a gang by posing as another guy. But the other guy was missing part of his little finger, so he slams his finger in a car door and (I guess) after it heals, he ages it by soaking it in salt water. That’s it, that’s all I know. I guess it could have been a Hitchcock type tv show.

Two Of A Kind, from 1951?

Wow! That’s it. Thanks!

Here’s another that haunts me: a man and a young boy are visiting a windmill, or waterwheel- some big spinning thing, and the tension builds as the guy is about ready to push the kid into the works for some reason. That’s it. Oh, the kid may have been clacking the wheel with a stick.

To determine what it is, it helps to determine what it isn’t. So far, I have determined that it is not a salad dressing, skin condition, political party, species of hamster, discount left sock store, floor wax or dessert topping.

Can you taunt it?

You can, but only once.

It is a movie…and you’re not.

North West Frontier (1959), with Kenneth More and Lauren Bacall.

A train of refugees is travelling across India by train during a rebellion. The reason is they are carrying the boy, a prince and a threat to the rebels, to safety. Unknown to them, one of the passengers is having a crisis of conscience and eventually sides with the rebels. The scene takes place in the pump room of an outlying railroad station. The large wheel is a spoked flywheel for the pump engine.

Thanks!

OK…what are you guys referencing?

Old SNL sketches. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Could it be “North West Frontier”, an old movie set in the days of the British Empire in India, where a group of English colonials are trying to escape on a train from a rebellion, taking with them the young son of the ruler. There’s a guy on the train who is trying to kill the boy, and there’s a scene that sounds like that, can’;t remember if they are by a water wheel or something similar, he is planning to push the boy in and the boy is doing that clacking thing on the wheel with a stick.

I found the whole flick on YT, and watched the wheel scene. It’s as I remembered it.

Great!

What’s this western? Two guys are riding through the desert. One guy breaks his leg, and the other guy says he’ll be back with help. As he rides away, he hears a gunshot, and seeing his holster is empty, realizes the guy took his gun and killed himself.
