On season 1, CSI had a case involving a group of criminals that break into people’s houses and locked some of them in the closet and then raped at least one of the daughter’s.
It ended with the daughter agreeing to testify and then they ame back and killed her - the case was not solved.
I stopped watching when Grissom left and don’t recall them solving this…?
The episode that you’re looking for is “Homebodies” from Season 4. I’m pretty sure the girl committed suicide over the stress as opposed to being attacked by the bad guys again, actually. And no, the show hasn’t revisited the case.
IIRC, it was clear that she was murdered - there was no indication of suicide - it was outside the house and I thought one of the parents said “they said they’d come back if she talked” - I assumed that, while not shown to us, that the death of the girl would be more than ample evidence for them to pursue, and that they did.
Its been years since I seen it, so I may be wrong.
I saw this ep. fairly recently, and she was lying in her driveway. An odd place to commit suicide. My initial impression was that after she failed to pick out the guy who raped her (and she clearly knew who it was, she just froze up), she was taken out with a drive-by. The only witness killed outside her own house.
If it was a suicide, I’d like to hear the theory on that. That scenario never crossed my mind.
And no, the case was never solved to my recollection. That one really bugged me and I think it was a great idea to keep it hanging out there unsolved.
