The Mormon splinter groups are comprised of Mormons. The Mormon splinter groups share doctrine and dogma with the mainstream LDS. The LSJUMB is not even comprised of athletes, for goodness’ sake. They are not recruited by, funded by, trained by, scheduled by, fed by, housed by, or tutored by the athletic department. Their myriad activities apart from athletic events are not under the purview of the athletic department.

You should know better, but evidently you don’t. I posted above that the sports program already brings discredit on themselves. You are the one attempting to equate the program with the teams.

In direct response to a question about Stanord’s teams, you posted a link to the band. Do I need to show you where you did that?

The band is not a sports team, and it was dishonest of you to suggest otherwise. The band is not the sports program, and it was sloppy of you to suggest otherwise. The band misbehaved twice, and was penalized as a result. No one was asaulted, no one was robbed, no one was raped, no one was hazed, no one drove drunk, no one was murdered. I can point you to examples of all of the above being committed by atletes at Division 1 schools. Yet you choose to portray the sports program as being dishonored because of two examples of stupid, tasteless, offensive jokes about religion. So, yeah, I’d say you have an axe to grind.

I did not lie. And I am not dishonest. Take your false accusations to the Pit if you wish to continue this ridiculous example of your own ability to parse something presented to you.

You spoke an untruth. If you did not do so knowingly, then I apologize. Do you still contend that the LSJUMB is a sports team?

Can someone fill me in on what Illinois is doing? I thought the NCAA was going to make them drop the Illini mascot and team name. I, for one, would miss the band routine where Chief Illiniwek magically appears on the field. I think that chief costume is a lot more cool than it is degrading.

As of now, my Illini are blocked from hosting any post-season playoffs/championships in any sport as long as they continue to use the Fighting Illini “mascot”. This represents a huge financial drain (no jokes about Illinois football, please), as the revenues from those hostings add up toa huge amount of $$ (no cite).

I was always deeply offended by Notre Dame’s implication that all Irish were drunken wee louts.
