Watch-a-long Oscar thread

Master and Commander for sound! It rocked my world.

(Of course, LOTR has momentum, but…)

Scarlett Johansson has got to be older than 19.

pokey, maybe you’re right; I’ll look for that next time she’s on camera. I don’t know what it is, because usually I think she’s smokin’, she still is, she just looks different.

I’m an idiot. I didn’t know who was nominated but I figured that Monster had to be in the running. I mean Come on!

I was expecting Monster to win for Best Makeup, too.

Travolta and an unrecognizable Bullock: winners for most strained repartee of the evening (so far). Hard to believe this sh@t is scripted.

Good call!

Letterman gets booted after one hosting and Billy Crystal goes on and on.

Gp figure.

LOTR wasn’t nominated in that category. So far it looks like LOTR has won every award for which it was nominated.

Who’s the trophy presenter?

And The Great Kate gets a separate tribute. Good.

Ladies and gents, grab your handkerchiefs…

:frowning:

Half of it! LOTR won one…

I nominate Julia Roberts for best speech of the night. And the dress ain’t bad, either.

Can I make a small request for those of us who are watching this thread for means of news of winners – can you note when you are talking about who actually just won vs when you are hoping someone will win something?
If so, Thanks. If not, Bite me.

Another one of the Glorious Dead paid tribute to: Katherine Hepburn. Julia Roberts, who is wearing a large diamond brooch between her breasts, used a rather strange anecdote for it. My fave Kate drama is LONG DAY’S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT, and comedy is BRINGING UP BABY.

“It’s official. There is now noone in New Zealand left to thank.” Heh.

Travolta + Bullock = inanity even by Oscar standards. Whoa there.

Ditto, I watched some earlier, off and on, and wouldn’t mind seeing updates on who has won what here. I know that Renee Zellwegger won Supporting Actress, and Tim Robbins won best Supporting Actor, Finding Nemo won Best Animated Picture and beyond that I’m a bit in the dark.

Be careful, ElRon may be listening…

“There’s now nobody in New Zealand left to thank”

cute.

The official site is pretty fast with the updates on winners.

There is this page but it doesn’t seem to be updating very well.
