The BBC are halfway through broadcasting a new production of Bleak House. I imagine it will come to the US as it is a joint production with WGBH of Boston. It is being shown in 15 half-hour episodes, just as the original book was published in several parts.
This is a very superior production with the cream of the British (and Canadian) acting profession. Two outstanding performances are from Gillian Anderson, as the troubled Lady Dedlock, and Charles Dance as the evil lawyer Tulkington. Also to be seen are Timothy West , Pauline Collins, Sheila Hancock and Alun Armstrong , some playing quite minor parts.
When it comes your way I urge you to watch it. This what the BBC does best. Costume drama with high production values. Not to be missed.
