Watching a football game on Amazon Prime

Unless there’s a way to get out of it, the picture consists of a big banner on top, big banner on the bottom, and what’s left is a split screen- the game on the right half, and a gaggle of nondescript bros in easy chairs yammering on the other half. It’s muted of course. Anybody else see this?

I am watching on Amazon Prime and I am not seeing that.

I think I got it- it was like different channel- “dudes” something. It was unwatchable that way.

Something called “TNF with Dude Perfect “ it seems. A popular YouTube comedy channel among the young’uns apparently…

How anybody can appreciate their commentary when the game is so shrunken that it’s hard to tell what’s going on is puzzling.

I just watched it for about 60 seconds, which was about 50 seconds too long. It’s really hard to even see what’s going on with the game.

They are going to have a different alternate stream on other nights… it all feels a little doomed to me.

It’s okay for me now that I’ve gotten away from the “dudes”.

The “Prime Vision” broadcast is nice. Regular broadcast audio and visual, but a sidebar of stats.

People who don’t like watching streaming for live sports are going to be pissed. I’m one of them.

Because you have to subscribe, or something else?

It just seems wrong. We do subscribe. But our big TV I wanted to watch the game on is not a smart TV. So I have to watch in our bedroom. Not a big deal, but if we had friends over to watch the game it would be awkward.

And the remote doesn’t work the same as my DirecTV remote. So fast Fowarding and rewinding is a lot of trial and error and frustration.

First world problems.

But they don’t care about me. I still think of Amazon as an on line bookstore.

I’ve switched over to the stats cast, and I really like the ability to toggle through game stats in queue up replays. I would love to have something like this for soccer.

I’d vastly prefer to be able to record the game for awhile and then come in and fast forward through the ads like I do with my DVR. That seems impossible with this setup. I hate sitting through all the ads and other bs. Life is too short for that!

Also? We have a smart TV, but the Amazon video app on it is too old for this. I can add games to my watchlist on my computer, but there’s no way to access them on the TV app - they don’t show up there. I ended up having to cast tonight’s game from my phone - I tried doing it from my computer, but the picture was awful. We’ve also had lag.

I had the game on two Smart TVs and my laptop. My laptop was 10 seconds ahead of TV1, which was about 15 seconds ahead of TV2. Nothing I did would make the TVs catch up.

All 3 devices are on wifi.

I have Amazon Prime, but I’m guessing it costs extra above the base subscription to watch streaming sports on Prime, right?

Thursday night football comes with no extra charge. I’m not sure what other sports they carry.

Good to know, thanks!

I think they show MLS games, too.

One thing that annoyed me: On a snap where the camera was on the close-up front view of Mahomes, the audio of his voice was nowhere near synced to the movement of his lips. Felt like I was a kid again watching Saturday morning karate movies.

I watched on my dumb TV via a Roku device over wifi. Other than the bad lipsyncing, it was pretty solid.

Despite my objection to the whole idea of Amazon doing sports, I did notice (or think I did) that the HD quality was better than I get from DirecTV. Is that possible? The picture quality was amazing.
