For starters, Satan lived in NC, so the jaunt must have been extremely short. He had planned on driving around the country and meeting people, but didn’t have the money, as it turned out. So instead, he went off to OH to meet a woman he was becoming interested in. They are now happily engaged. You make it sound like he was conspiring to do something evil to an impressionable young girl; anyone who has had the good fortune to meet Drain Bead can have a good laugh at that.

Who can forget Threadkillers 2001 ? We had some big fun in that one. AT 1111 posts it must be one of the longest threads ever. I can’t find “Guy Stuff” but I think it is just about the same length.

She was talking about how she was going to "accidently"mangle her arms beyond repair so that she could be fitted for steel hooks. Even wrote a fantasy sequence about how it was done.

There was just recently a flurry of exchange between this board and another board… I don’t know if mentioning it is a good idea, but it is dedicated to the seperation of white people from other, non-white people.
A few Dopers stuck around there, briefly. I only know of one that is still actively trying to fight the good fight.

Well, on the AOL board there were incessant Pope Bob-Pmpddymck/hpstrdufus wars. It got to be a real chore to read oh, about the 14th post or so on a thread when you’ve got one person’s statement cited, then a reply to that, then a reply to the reply and then a reply to the reply to the reply. All in the same post as both Bob and George tried to tear each other to bits.
Mr. Ruda Duda was the escort of Princess Margarita of Romania at some function involving the Royal Family of England. That thread devolved into poster Ben’s Theory of Agism. Ben was a 16 year old product of a divorced marriage who thought in addition to 7 year olds should be permitted to drive, but that 3 year olds were capable of giving consent to having sex with adults. He believed any statutory limits based on age were a form of discrimination.
Manny Peoples was, IIRC, posted by someone calling himself Psycho or something like that. I suspect he was the first sock in SDdom. His posts reminded me of an old SNL Emily Latilla sketch.

Herbie was supposed to be a pig farmer somewhere. I always thought his posts were humorous and thoughtful, but you had to really work to decipher his, um, odd spellings.
Perky~Dan posted irregularly. Sort of in spurts. It was widely held that he was living in an insane asylum and often was not allowed access to a computer.
IMHO Cyberian singlehandedly did the most damage to the AOL SDMB community than any other poster. What can you say… homophobic, racist, anti-semitic, rabid christian? The level of hostility he inspired drove many good people away from the board. And it was AOL’s unwillingness/inability to enforce it’s Terms Of Service as applied to message boards that sort of, I think, inspired OpalCat to add a message board to her Teeming Millions pages. Her idea was, basically, AOL couldn’t keep Cyberian off the SD board, but she could keep him off hers.
Let’s see… there were the Long Island Home Schooled boys. Shane, Alex, and Trigger? Shane kept posting about how funny he thought pies in the face were. They were all happy to share with us the beliefs of their Calvinist church which ultimately led to some of them leaving in a rage.
Welcome Screen Invasions: Several times a year, the powers that be would feature a link to the SD on the Welcome Screen. This would result in an invasion of the boards by folks who didn’t bother to lurk and we’d get questions like these:

Actually, I think it was one of these invasions that led me, in my role as The Idol Of American Youth, to create the SD Teen FAQ, which contained the answers to 50 questions often posed by teens during these invasions.
Lynn introduced into the SD lexicon her Cousin Vinnie, who was good at negotiating with people. He never posted himself, as he traveled a lot at the time. He does post now and then over on the FFF board.
How could I forget? AlanKingsley. Our very own self styled Communist. He believed it was okay to steal from people who were better off than he was, because they probably exploited the masses to get what they had that he didn’t have. Or something like that. And there was that thing about his dog getting run over too.
There was JPetrilia (sp?), a middle schooler who loved to use different fonts and colors that could make your eyes bleed.
And of course, the Chronicles of Gry, written by Krftmstrss/kiltgrrl and Roshi. I believe a certain moderator here produced the HTML version. Euty?
