HA! I just want you all to know (Abe Babe especially) that I HAVE heard of Claremont McKenna. It’s associated with Pomona and Harvey Mudd and others, isn’t it? And if I remember correctly, it was singled out a few years ago as being the liberal arts college in the United States with the most heavy-hitter alums in Fortune 500 companies. Something like that. A prestigious school–I’m impressed (AND I’m east of the Rockies! Woo-hoo!).
And by gum, I know about Philadephia College of Textiles too. They’ve got a pretty kickass ceramics research program there, right? Rivals Alfred U? My dissertation advisor did a consulting project there once, so she used it for a case study in a few classes. I had no idea they changed their name. Pity. Although it’s probably a better reflection of what they do.
Anyone who doesn’t know about U of Chicago is truly uninformed. Granted, it sure as hell isn’t for everyone (undergrad, anyway), but it’s a school to be reckoned with.
Yep. Ceramics and composite materials are the two big things going on in the School of Textiles. I was a biz major, though so I don’t know much about that end of the program.
The name is a better reflection, I guess, now that they have architecture, pre-law and really big pre-med programs. But I miss old PCT&S.
