I joined up the first time I was interested in the Straight Dope… but, after I’d read most of what was available on the site at the time, I lost interest. ShadiRoxan would occassionally send me links to threads over the years, and eventually I came back. So, though I have a '99 join date, I haven’t really been here the whole time.
Um. Hi.
I haven’t posted in quite a while. New job, getting married in less than a month, building a house…let’s just say I’ve been busy.
Anyway. I still lurk, at the very least, but there’s no telling if I’ll ever make it to 5K.
Paging Dr. Clueless, Paging Dr. Clueless
uh, what’s “LJ”?
E3 (Hey, that’s #157 to you!)
I think that a fair number of retired / long gone dopers have taken up residence there.
I’m an original 99er from AOL. Just adding my name to this 19 year old thread!
I’m a relative newcomer from '01. But I’m not a zombie yet…
We sound so cute discussing the long long years we’d been a message board and looking way back to 1996 and 1997, the AOL days. We were old-timers, kids, our message board community was eight freaking years old!
Dad, what was AOL?
Something you accessed through a dial-up modem.
I was an AOL member in '96 or so.
Since my membership isn’t continuous, I gets no respect!
Yeesh! I know that I’ve been on this board for a while, but I checked my profile and it shows that I joined November 11, 1999.
Time flies when you mostly lurk, I guess…
What’s the threshold to be considered an old timer these days? I joined Feb 2009.
