We are having a “January Thaw” in Boston-temps will hit 60 F tomorrow! But the gloom is real-the nights are long, and the Christmas lights are just a memory-except for OUR house-I’ll keep the tree up through February!
Oh well, nothing lasts for ever. Last night was our latest sunset of the year, so the nights will begin drawing in marginally from tonight. We’ve turned the corner.
The holidays aren’t over yet for us, today is Russian Christmas, tomorrow my youngest turns 15, then the 14th is Russian New Year, then several friends as well as my dad and my own birthdays. February is the worst, but as Chefguy mentioned we have Fur Rendezvous and the Iditarod to fill some of the darkness and cold before spring arrives, sometime in May.
Followed by fall on June 1st.
Too right! Our seasons consist of either mud or ice, why do we stay? I am posting from next to the Toyo!
Happy Birthday!
Hush child. You obviously haven’t been around this rock long enough to experience depression that knows no time or space, that can last years at a time. Until you have, you’ll pin depression on such silly things as sunlight and the calendar.
Those that HAVE had those experiences know: With darkness is calm. With snow, there is quiet. With winter, comes spring. (And women with spring wardrobes, hubba hubba!)
Unintentionally “For the first time in awhile, my soul is at peace…it is my hope that it lasts awhile.” Blank
Why are taxes depressing? You get MONEY!
Yea, Spring clothes are nice, but wait till you see summer clothes! Bikinis! woot!
College prof . . . winter break!
