Yes! I swear they’re out to get me, and my little car too .
Right of way rules don’t apply anymore so it’s getting harder to judge when to go ahead at a stop sign. The four way stops are the hardest to interpret. No matter what order I arrive, I’m always the first to go through because no one else wants to do it. It’s like a traffic version of chicken.
You ain’t just whistlin’ Dixie, brother. I’d’ve needed a Maori Uzi.
I blame NPR for a lot of the excess politeness, and I adore NPR. Having said that, it bugs me how the show hosts continually thank the correspondent who just finished the story. Cripes, the correspondent’s voice has already been recorded and he or she isn’t there listening to the host anymore. Essentially the show host is thanking a piece of audio tape, or the modern day digital equivalent of that. It takes up 10 seconds of valuable programming time that could be better spent on just about anything else. It isn’t polite, its just damn annoying.
I did enjoy that short story very much, thank you for suggesting it. Of course, I have always been a fan of this.
Ha! You listen to Chav rap, don’t you?
