The “last edited by” line doesn’t show up if you perform the edit before anyone else has viewed the thread. And it doesn’t show up in preview at all.
No, but she does have a sistir.
p.s. Woo hoo! I’m editing like a motherfuck!
Wow. Neat.
ETA neat.

So, will mods be able to see what was originally there in edited posts?
Testing
Of course.
Mods know all, see all. We are but worms in camel dung beneath their august, ah, something or other…
Whoa, cool!
ETA: although considering the way this board runs, perhaps ten minutes would be better?
We’re trying it out. There were lots of people asking for this feature, and the mods were all uneasy about it, so we thought we’d try it out. There’s a five-minute limit, so you can fix typos and grammatical errors and that sort. As soon as we find it’s being abused, by people insulting each other (say) and then changing their comments, we’ll yank it.
It’s also a privilege for members, not for guests.
So, then, this is the free-for-all edit-testing thread?
I just know I’m gonna get lazy and complacent if I start to depend on it…
I start a thread, and it’s like a barfight!
Sure, come on in.
Check out the error message I got:
Thunderbird thinks this site is suspicious! It may be trying to
impersonate the web page you want to visit. Most
legitimate sites use names instead of numbers. Are you sure you want to visit 208.100.26.199?
I think there’s still some fine tuning that may need to be done now that the server is under load. Some httpd.conf tweaking, upgrading to vBulletin 3.6.4, some fresh CAT 5 to replace the cable the hamsters chewed up through the years. Still, call me impressed so far.
Make that the pseudotriton ruber ruber rubber baby buggy bumper…
Gotta give this a try…
Wow, cool
Yay! It’s about time!
I’ll buck the trend and say I think this is a bad idea, and I always have.
But that will create its own set of problems. Say you come into a thread: the OP says one thing, then the first post has a “quoted” entire OP, which is different. Which one’s “right”? What’s to stop the quoter from changing the OP and claiming it was edited?
Granted, if there’s no “edted by” under the OP, then it’ll be clear; but if there is, then there’s no way to tell what the OP edited and what the quoter changed.
I think this is an idea just begging for abuse.
Yet has anybody abused it?
We–most of us–are grups here and I appreciate being treated as one.
This ought to be interesting.
There’s an “edited by” under your post: Which version did you post? What did you edit?
(Note: I changed dropzone’s post for illustrative purposes only.)
Well, you aren’t supposed to CHANGE another’s post, are you? That’s really going to muddy things.
