Much faster to pump your own.
Of course they can. And then they risk going out of business.
In my corner of the multiverse, 8-4 falls on a Friday this year.
Missed the exit window: 8-1 seems more plausible, anyway.
Oops, was looking at the wrong month on my calendar. You are correct.
It’s been a looong time since anybody was employed to pump gas here. The cheapest stations have nobody manning the till at all, it’s all automated.
I worked at Hess on Long Island, NY in the 80’s. Booth in the center between Full and Self serve. Full serve was about 5 cents more a gallon and while we were supposed to offer to check oil and wash windshields most customers wanted neither.
No credit cards - all cash. Pumps were open so no pre-pay. Many times people would fill up and drive off - they could cut through the neighboring diner parking lot and dissapear around the corner.
Any rare “tips” were keep-the-change except for one regular dude who drove a black Mercedes who’d tip like $10+ which was about 3 hours wages.
Packs of smokes for sale - the age to buy was 18 and I never asked anyone for ID.
Are the pumps in Oregon the same as the computer pumps in other states? They are designed for self service and have anti-theft measures to prevent drive offs. (pay first, then you can get gas)
Drive off theft wouldn’t be a concern with attendants pumping.
Oregon pumps are exactly the same. You hand your card to the attendant, and they swipe it for you at the pump.
I filled up my Jeep the other day, all by myself, and didn’t spill any, or blow up the Circle K.
My wife and another person did get fussed at Costco today. Apparently Costco needs better signage.
