Oh boy is she CUTE!!! She’s all black-even her nose is pitch black, with big green eyes. My sister, with her obsession with Charmed had named her Piper. (Ugh, I know, not a kitty name, but what can you do?)
She’s adorable.
Buffy is freaked out. She actually HISSED! That is the first time I have EVER heard Buffy hiss in all my life. Gypsy, typically, is completely, utterly pissed off, and is growling and hissing at everyone.
Noel, the Head Cat, is intrigued but keeping her distance. Misty, Miss Social Butterfly, likes little Piper already, and keeps trying to play, only because she was just fixed yesterday (they fix them at the Humane Society before they let them go), we have to watch them.
(But I still keep thinking of little Tess. Dammit)
Congratulations on the new member of the family! Kittens (and cats) are definitely up there on the list of “really great things in the world.” I’m jealous. But dorm rooms and kittens don’t mix so well. Sigh!
I got my kitten Hanna in August, and it is only recently that my other female cat, Abby, (the Boss kitty) has warmed up to her. They are still not best buddies, but at least now Abby can stand to have Hanna in the same room as her. My adult male cat, Bo, took to Hanna almost from the day I got her.
Congratulations! Having a new kitten, even though the time is short for kittenhood, is so much fun.
I only have two, but when I got the second one he was maybe seven weeks old, and the other was over three. #1 was a neutered male, but adjusted quickly. And #2 still missed his mom I think, because he tried to nurse off the vestigial nipples that even male cats have. I’d hear these kissing noises and know that the baby was at it again. And #1 put up with it
It sounds as if you have a lot of experience in cats adjusting though. Let us know how soon the little one becomes “one of the gang!”
I CAN’T wait! I love kitten pics. Please get them as soon as possible! Piper sounds absolutely gorgeous. Kittens need to be cherished.
The Humane Society let me take my adult cat home before they spayed her, but that was ONLY because she had an upper respiratory infection, and she couldn’t be spayed. I did have to cross my heart and swear on my pinky that I’d get her spayed the minute she was cured, though.
Wow, Guin I’m sorry I’m not up to date, but five cats or six? Are they indoor cats?
I’ve never had more than two at a time (including live-in girlfriends’ kitties), but my Queen Cat, Miranda, has never ever been able to tolerate another cat invading her personal space which extends to about a five foot radius.
We have her now (15 years old), and a 2 year old Siamese, Ziggy. I wish they could get along - it would be so sweet to see them cuddle together or even just stop chasing and hissing for one day.
We had five cats last year, but Tess had to be put to sleep when she was just a kitten. If you do a search, you can find my meltdown in the Pit about it.
She and Buffy are having a blast together-Buffy jumped into a laundry basket, and then Piper started batting at her through the holes in the sides. It’s hysterical!
Piper is a great kitten name! My aunt has a cat named Piper, but he’s a male. He was found by my cousin as a stray at our high school, and they decided to keep him. The high school team name is the Pipers (bagpipes), and so thats how he ended up with that name. He;s a great cat!
Congratulations on the new kitten! We have a 6 month old girl that we adopted in August, and we absolutely love her. She’s so playful and cuddly! Right now she’s being all retro and sitting on the turn table
We recently got us another new kitten too… He’s sort of grey, with light stripes, & a spotted belly. He’s a little terror, always pouncing on the other cats, and leaping out at you from every concealed hiding place.
Congrats on the new family member!Kittens RULE!! Last October 22, we put our oldest cat Precious (2 1/2) down due to some problems she was having. We had also recently acquired a brown/tan stripey kitten whom we named Buttercup(after Princess Buttercup in the Princess Bride).I was very upset and depressed about Precious’s passing but Buttercup helped me cheer up. She attacks anything that doesn’t run away fast enough, including her ‘sister’, our other cat Rumpleteazer (3 1/2). Buttercup also seems to be addicted to face-rubs. She can’t get enough of them a nd it’s quite funny.Sometimes I’ll wake up in the middle of the night and have her pushing against my hands because she wants her face rubbed.
