We got MTV2!!!!

All right!! Well, you all know how the channels have changed, right? (They have here, anyway.) So…our old channel 55 is now channel 10, and what’s on channel 10 is MTV2!!

I spent the better part of half an hour watching a punk documentary. I’m a very happy Zoggie. Can you believe it? Music and MTV in the same sentence. As long as they don’t throw Carson Daly at me, I’m good to go. (Though I’d be a lot better with some “Daria” but no one’s perfect, right?)

Sadly I am going back to college but next week, I’ll have off. And you can bet your sweet bippy MTV2 will be blaring out of our TV a lot more from now on.

You’ll have to let us know if MTV2 is all it’s cracked up to be. I’ve heard many good things.

Yes, it is mostly good.

MTV2 is okay … definitely beats US MTV, which is now just a Generation Y lifestyle channel.

However, you’ll feel like a kid in a candy store if you get digital cable. I don’t know what music television offerings are in your area, but I get MTV, MTV2, VH1, VH1 Classic (essentially early '80s MTV!), MTV Espanol, VH1 Espanol, some other Spanish pop music video channel whose name escapes me, Muchmusic, CMT, BET Jazz, a Christian misic video channel, and – drumroll, please – Zee TV, with Indian music videos! Tunak tunak … tunak tunak … tunak tunak tuuuuun!

Considering all those choices, there’s still tons of video music channels out there that aren’t on any cable system in the US. Consider Viva, Onyx, Muzzik, Mezzo, Music Factory, MTV Base, MTV Hits, MTV Dance, VH1 Europe, and the local MTV channels for Brazil, Spain, China, Germany, Poland, France, the Netherlands, South Africa, India, the Phillipines, Russia, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia … and now Canada.

Eh? I’ve got MTV Hits. We used to get MTVX, which then changed to MTV Jams, and is now MTV Hits. We’ve also got VH1 Country, VH1 Soul, and Great American Country.

I wish I got VIVA … they play actual videos by Mesh! Hard to believe for an American like me who had to buy their latest album on import because it won’t get released here.

MTV2 is great - make sure you check out Gonzo…

I love MTV2! You can actually see, like, music videos an’ stuff!

Yay! I’d officially sworn off MTV a few years ago, when the programmers removed the “M” from the concept. Now, I can see some decent videos… So far.

just try and avoid the “kiddie hours”

between about 4 and 6 (at least over here in England) they have a nasty habit of doing requested videos.

The videos tend to err towards the crappy teeny-punk/rock during that time as the kids will request them whilst they are doing their homework.

there is only so many times you can watch avril lavigne’s complicated" and limp bizkit’s “rolling”.
