My husband surprised me to no end this weekend. He’s the best on any given day anyway and now he’s even surpassed that. My parakeet died unexpectedly on Christmas eve and I have been wanting to get another bird since. Well he bought me a 10 week old sun conure this weekend and he’s the sweetest thing. We named him Monty (after the Monty Python dead parrot skit) and his one trick is rolling over on his back and playing dead…it’s hysterically funny. Well I had to share and now I am off to play with Monty and spoil him even more rotten.
A sun conure is quite a leap from a parakeet. Stock up on dried fruit and raisins, and get a nice dark cover for the cage. Mango wakes up with the sunrise, and unless you do too, you’ll appreciate the quiet a good cover provides.

Yeah it is quite a leap. This is my first conure and I just may drive you crazy with questions. We’ve had cockatiels and quakers before so we think we’re prepared (at least in spirit). Monty doesn’t like being covered at least at this point although he or she may change thier mind. Thanks so much.
