Dopers, HELP..I need a name for a new bird

My sweet quiet little old lady bird (cockatiel) died recently. She was very old and starting to get really quite frail, so it wasn’t unexpected, but as with all pets it was like “not THAT soon…jeez”.

My “baby” (really no longer a baby, she’s 2 and a half), needed a new roomie, so I got her a friend this weekend. A pretty piebald Cockatiel. I just can’t go on calling him “newbie”. So, I turn to you Dopers, I know you all have wonderful imaginations and that there are a lot of pet lovers among you.

Sorry for your loss, CanvasShoes. She’s not suffering any more, though, and that’s something.

For the new bird… actually, I think Newbie is a pretty cool name. If not that… well, since you’ve got a nice pied bird there, how about Piper?

Yeah, cockatiels can really be such agreeable members of the family. Condoelces.

I was going to suggest Patches, but Piper is pretty good; I’m a sucker for a pun.

I’ve got several great ideas…but none as good as Piper, damn it!

I need a name for a Nanday conure I just acquired. I was leaning toward Screech because that’s what they do but that brings up images of the Saved By The Bell guy.

Well, there’s always all the things I call my Grandmother’s bird: Lunchmeat, Bite-size, Breakfast, Snack, Mouthful…

“Cocktail” seems like it would be a good name for a cockatiel.

Okay, I’m kinda liking “Meep” too. Dunno why but it’s sort of silly, irreverent and cute. Reminds me a bit of that silly “Jetsons” song.

That’s an odd one. Why Bendix and not Sperry, Burroughs, Allied/Signal?

Personally, I like Piper, though.

To be honest, I had just looked at the wiki article for Dunedin, New_Zealand, and I was looking through the ‘notable people’ from there and noticed the name Bendix Hallenstein. Thought it was a remarkable name - nothing more.
