Help me name my new Parakeet!

Well, it’s my husband’s, but he can’t think of a name for her. She looks like this (scroll down).

We’ve had a green parakeet before, and his name was Brighton. Our cockatiel is Baby (we didn’t name her - she was adopted). I was trying to find some names online that meant “blue” or “bird” or something like that.

I think I like Palila (Hawaiian for “bird”) or Sunila (Hindi for “blue”). (Yes, I like polysyllabic names.)

Any thoughts or other suggestions?

While we are Harry Potter fans, I don’t want a bird named Hermione or Hedwig - not lovely names.

Call her “mascaroni”, she could be my sister…

Alternatively, call her “Eek”, which could cause confusion.:

“Look at my Parrot ‘Eek’”.

We had two parakeets for several years. All they did was have sex, and then one day the male was dead, but that’s another story. We never gave them names. We still have the female, and she still has no name. My mom always called them “Pretty” and “Birdy” and other such things. My dad now calls the one we have left “that damn bird.” Of course, he also calls the cat “that damn cat,” even though the cat’s been named Spock for the 9 or so years we’ve had her…

So I suggest “Featherball.”

My sister had a cockatiel once. I hated that thing. My father and I unanimously decided to name it “Fckng Cockatiel”.

You should also give him a Sunday or a showname like dogs have at crufts. Maybe something along the lines of -

Whimsical Prom Queen Chimeny the 3rd Farquhar Trotsky on a Delightful Summers Brunch.

Quite catchy I think you’ll agree.
