Poor nameless birdies. Help!

I’m getting scolded by my family for not deciding on names for the parakeets I got for Mother’s Day. Now, before it looks too bad, I didn’t get them on Mother’s Day, so it hasn’t been that long. (The only thing I got on Mother’s Day was a good reason for a pity party, which I subsequently threw for myself.) But it has been about three weeks now.

I’m looking for two matched names, or at least that go together, and aren’t too awfully common. And we’re pretty sure they’re both male.

One of the kids suggested Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, but, way long and too hard to use all the time. I mean, even the names they gave their fish, Kokopelli and Quetzalcoatl, have been shortened, and they only get used about once a day.

I thought about Tony and Tim, since we’re pretty big NCIS fans around here. I also thought about Joe and Jim, in memory of Tony Hillerman.

So, any ideas? I’m counting on smart, well-read, pun-loving Dopers here. Oh, if it makes any difference, one of them is blue and the other is yellow.

Hmm…

Castor and Pollux
Osiris and Set
Jack and Stephen (if you are a Patrick O’Brien fan)
Fred and George (from Harry Potter)

Hmmm, I’ve no idea. My grandmother had a succession of parakeets and all were called George. I’ve no clue WHY…maybe her twisted sense of humor?

How about Saphire and Sulfur? Sky and Sun? George and George the second? Or maybe hold a contest for those scolding you for not naming the birds yet.

One and Too. But Too must be spelled that way, because it’s an acronym for The Other One.

I could hold a contest, but they’ve been throwing ideas at me fairly regularly, so I can’t really blame them.

Keet #1
Keet #2

They’re a pair of Keets.

Bubble and Squeek

Thing 1 and Thing 2

Bert and Ernie

Casper and Wendy

Phil and Don

Eric. Eric the Parakeet.

The other one is also Eric.

What? There’s nothing so odd about this. Kemal Ataturk had an entire menagerie called Abdul!

Cecil and Adam?

I like it. (But note that the author’s name is spelled O’Brian.)

Heckle and Jeckle.

Chirp and Cheep
Mickey and Donald
Riggs and Murtaugh
