The fellow we got him from said he was a blue heeler (no papers).
I have done some research on the net and I am convinced that he is in actuallity a catahoula cow dog… They are fairly prevalent around south texas.
Just wondering if anyone knows anything about these dogs and are there any special precautions I might need to take in the care and raising of these dogs??
I am referring to diet and if they have any special needs that another dog might not have.
Also are they OK with kids as I have grandchildren that visit regularly??
He is frisky as the dickens and looks really kind of wierd with the bluish grey coat and black spots all over!!
I don’t know about the breed, but I would go talk to a vet - they could tell you everything you need to know about diet, and special needs for the breed, or they can point you to a good resource. Also, they can do a basic physical, and evaluate his health, as well as determine a good time to neuter him.
Good luck with your puppy - he sounds like he’ll be a fun, crazy (in a good way) dog! Have you named him yet? How about Splotches? Seems to fit the description you gave!
Eddie. All male dogs should be named Eddie. It is the perfect boy puppy name. Think about it for a little while and you’ll know–nay, feel–that I’m right.
OK, so it might make for a lot of confusion in the dog run, but hey.
Actually he is already named by me… I call him domino.
If I can figure out how to send pics I will and then you will understand…
The vet trip will be on monday…He is driving us ALL crazy… Seems he does have a herding instinct…except for bed time!!
PUPPY!!! YAY!!! Who’s a good boy? Is it you? Is it you? Aahwoojawoojawoooooh!!!
