Here’s what I always want to ask people who say that we may be in the “End Times”: ever heard of World War II? You know, death and destruction and suffering in every corner of the globe for several years, capped off with detonation of the most destructive weapon then known to man (twice)? If you think now is the End Times, what the hell would you have thought then? And you would have been wrong then, so why the hell do you think you are right now?
I’m holding the position that the end is not nigh.
If it doesn’t happen I shall continue to gloat.
If it DOES happen, well, enjoy your hollow little victory.
Because I have a brain and I use it. There are two basic facts here:

The sun is a star. At the end of its life cycle, it will expand and engulf the Earth. We’ll probably have died off long before then, but that event will absolutely be the end of game whistle.

Um, Friar Ted, the modern state of Israel has existed for more than 50 years. Globalization in some form has existed since the time of the ancient Greeks. They, too, might have considered the phenomenon “the globalization of everything.”
You’ll have to do better than that.
It’s when the Temple gets restored that you have to really watch out. According to most of the endtimes scenarios that I’m familar with, Jesus can’t come back until the Temple is restored. As long as that mosque is up there on that hill, everyboy’s safe.

Just in case anyone gets offended on the behalf of all Christians over this, let me just say that I know a few people who have explicitly stated that they think recycling, conservation, judicious use of non-renewables, etc are all pointless (or worse, are evil distractions), because we’re living in the end times.
If you get an Ichtys wrapped in a page from the Book of Revelation you’re taking a dirt nap pretty soon.
Recycling is evil because we should be sequestering carbon to keep it out of the atmosphere. Laziness drives global climate change, lets harness laziness to fight it!
