I am glad that we have had a few weeks, without any military reaction to the september 11th tragedy. I think it is in everyone’s interest to talk about it so that we can go about formulating a targeted response.
Killing the killers because we don’t tolerarte killing is a moronic arguement. Thank god the liberal-democratic paradigm has been institutionalized in higher education, something that most politicians nowadays seem to lack.
I’ve always hated the fact that Bush got elected. But I think he and his cabinet deserve a pat on the back for such a measured and cautious response in the face of all this ballyhooing. So far anyway.
It’s been said a million times before, but terrorists are a different kind of enemy. The kind of enemy that you can’t bomb or invade. We’re all mad and confused as hell right now but we need to sit back and think about this if we want to do it right.
I hope that when we catch Bin Laden and his men (or whatever group is responsible) we treat them with dignity. I hope that we do not kill or torture them (as tempting as it may be), and I hope that the punishment they receive is just. If we stoop to the level of murderers and terrorists then there isn’t much hope for us. What happened on Sept. 11 can never be erased. No amount of terrorist blood will fix the wound that it has created.
