I think you made some excellent points Shadez, that I will try and respond to when I have time. But for now, I would like to point out that no matter how I might have said it, I still SPECIFICALLY SAID I didn’t care if someone was gay in the OP, which one would think would make it clear that homosexuality itself was not the issue. Yet I am almost immediately called a bigot by halfwits like Jimmy Chitwood. Apparently, even implying criticism and sexual orientation in the same paragraph are all it take nowadays.

Eve, I haven’t read your MPSIMS thread, but I am familiar with Reimer’s story, and I can’t see a direct connection to homosexuality. He wasn’t a man who liked men, or a girl who liked girls. He was a boy society said was a girl. What was done to him was awful. It was also a weird sociological freak occurence, not a symptom of our times or a valid example of anything having to do with what we are talking about here.
Well, Lizard has told us what kinds of threads he doesn’t like. I thought i’d go through his own threads, and find out what type of threads he does like. If you concentrate very closely, you might be able to spot a pattern here.

Perhaps you see the problem. If homosexuality isn’t the issue here, what we’re left with is that Lizard doesn’t like… threads… about… issues and stuff. Hmm.
Do you know what a bigot is? The OED says it’s “A person obstinately and unreasonably wedded to a particular religious creed, opinion, or ritual.” In your case, that opinion seems to be that homosexual issues aren’t people issues. That there are specific homosexual agenda that don’t relate to the everyman’s life in any way. See, that’s a problem.
You see, your problem is that you seem to take heterosexuality as the norm by which all discussion should be judged, and thus focus only on the issue of homosexuality in those other threads, rather than on the many other issues they raise, such as rights, law, politics, relationships, economics, etc.
And why do you feel the need to observe that homosexuality is “endlessly fascinating” to some people? Your own threads, some of which i have listed above, suggest that heterosexuality is “endlessly fascinating” for you. What’s the big deal? Are you worried that all those threads that “yammer on endlessly about those who have sex with others of the same gender” might bump off the front page all of your threads that “yammer on endlessly about those who have sex with others of the [opposite]** gender.”
As others have observed, if you don’t like the threads dealing with gay issues, don’t read the fucking things, moron.

I for one am NOT going to just fade away because someone is tired of seeing us queers marching around asking for the same smeggin’ rights as everyone else. I might not be the most prolific poster, but I will offer my opinions, experiences or whatever to help those who are clueless to buy one. I don’t stop with this message board, which is well represented with queer folk. I also write letters to the editor in two local newspapers. I’m sure the backwards, clueless, bigoted, racist, homophobic, “Christian” hillbillies in this close-minded Bible belt area of PA are tired of having to read letters about homosexuality. Especially the one’s where I point out how out of context their scripture quoting is.
As far as the touchy feely NPR news story goes, I agree with Kalhoun. These stories are needed to raise people’s conscience to the mistreatment of gays, especially those who are in long term loving relationships that the Right just wants to make out as being perverse, immoral sex acts. I get so smeggin’ tired of the Right using the Bible’s discussion of male temple prostitutes and anal rape as a form of humiliation as basis for judging my relationship with my husband of 4+ years.
So to those who think we “faggots and lesbos need to crawl back into the closet and accept the fact that the world is a tough place to live and just smeggin’ get over it”, can kiss my queer ass whilst I blow you a nice anal kiss!!!
I’ve been thinking about this. This would have been a super opportunity for the interviewer to ask about issues such as hospital visitation, dealing with the remains, inheritance, conflict with the loved one’s family re all of the preceding, and so on. Did that happen at all?

Although the use of “smeggin” is refreshing, and I simply loved the “anal kiss” thing, I believe if you peppered your rant with a few more “straight swears” you might be able to draw in some more Lizards, thereby keeping all these damned gay threads alive and well-balanced. I got burned by NASCAR! I got this giant album of 1993-1994 drivers- 3 complete sets with 550 drivers linked below. I paid 25. for it and figured I'd get 50. easily. How could I not it’s 550 cards! After 7 days of no bids I got 34.95 for it at the close of auction. After shipping and listing fees I cleared about 5.00 for over an hours worth of work in taking and transferring photos, researching and listing.
Hmm. I post one thread, talking about the condition of the Pit specifically at one particular point in time, and mention that it seems to be the same as many other points in time. Then I conclude (not in the same post) this betrays a depressing lack of originality and, believe it or not, diverse thinking.
You therefore pull threads of my own from multiple forums, spread over several years, and claim it somehow proves. . . .that I’m fascinated with heterosexuality? If I am, then so what? Go start your own thread bashing me for it. Just as I have done here. I’m not accountable to you for what I’m interested in, and nobody here is accountable to me either. Anyone thinking clearly can see the OP was not aimed at any individual or belief.
But then, few are trying to be rational about this whole subject. It’s so much easier to switch off the 'ole higher functions and go into full attack mode on anyone who even APPEARS to hold an opinion they dislike. I can only conclude that “tolerance” to some people here doesn’t really mean what they would claim it means. It certainly doesn’t mean tolerance for someone like me. There are real bigots out there, some of them a hell of lot more polite and well-spoken than most of the folks in this thread. It’ll take more than name calling and clumsy personal dirt-mining to make any of them go away. Clearly, most of the great thinkers here don’t really understand that.
