Sorry that the following acknowledgement is a few days late, but I’ve been travelling and I can barely tolerate the effort of responding on a touchscreen!
But while I will happily accept your thanks, the initial impetus came from @What_Exit as well! They mentioned manually altering a poster’s titles in a Pit thread, and that it was a relatively simple procedure. I then asked in that thread it would be possible to therefore manage new, custom titles for posters and if so if it would be appropriate to do so in ATMB as to not further sideline the thread. W_E was supporting, and the only reason I didn’t mention them by name in the OP was I didn’t want to suggest that I was explicitly doing so with his blessing.
Not that they didn’t immediately chime in here with support as well.
But if credit is being given, at best I’m the 10% Inspiration, and he’s the 90% perspiration that got us here - between support in thread, as a voice among the mods, and doing quite a bit of the grunt work as it were. So I vote for him as MVP on the team as it were.
Well the system is working well so far and is far from a burden on the Moderators. I’ve had a few PMs on it, but overwhelmingly most of the requests have gone through the Custom Titles Queue thread.
As there seems to be some confusion, Title change request here will also probably get done and moved to the completed thread. But still easiest if posted in the Custom Titles Queue.
PMs are still the worst choice. Very good chance the change won’t happen and causes some problems for the moderators. I’m going to insist anyone that PMs me, instead makes the request a post. Not sure about other Mods.
I don’t understand what this is about. Are you giving members a one-time chance to change their titles? If I do nothing, will I retain my current title?
