Some online sellers amuse me with their weasily description of goods, for example, “almost near mint” or they’ll try having it both ways, listing it as Good but stating it’s “mint” in the description, or listing it as Like New but stating in the description that the CD has “just a few scratches” or that the item is missing the case or something. Or they’ll list a CD as Like New based on the disc itself without mentioning damage to case or booklet. Some sellers also will use phrases such as “may or may not include the manual, case or map” when selling video games or they’ll have a canned description such as “all of our goods are guaranteed to play like new”, or they’ll list it as Like New then describe it as “plays like new” :dubious: , leading you to wonder if it’s really like new since even a CD with a lot of scratches can play perfectly like new. Some sellers will list resurfaced CDs as Like New although I’d consider any alteration to the original condition to preclude it from being like new. And then there’s the sellers that will list a CD as New, or brand new, and describe it as “sealed”, and when you receive the CD, it’s missing the security strip along the top edge even though it’s a domestic major label release, the seal is obviously secondhand and you find markings on the CD indicating that it’s been used. I avoid buying from low feedback sellers and sellers that use these techniques so I usually receive goods as described.
