Does anyone here use Weatherbug at work? If so, are you allowed to use it? If not, how come your IT folks forbid it?
I don’t use it, and i don’t really care for it. Whenever i see i on someone else’s system, i notice that it is constantly wrong!

I’ve got Weatherbug on this home computer, and it seems to be reasonably accurate.
Now: I had Weatherbug on a computer at work and when the IT people found it they removed it and I got a wrist-slapping because I’d :GASP!: Installed Unauthorized Software!.
BFD. Good thing I knew they were coming. I removed my Anna Kournikova screen saver before they got there.
Speaking as one of the guys who has to clean this shit up, let me tell you that rules forbidding the installation of “unauthorized software” aren’t to annoy you.
Too many users can’t be trusted to know what they’re doing so they download every smiley-central, comet cursor, bargain buddy, free dancing cow screensaver they can find each installing it self with several more programs the user doesn’t even know.
Best policy is to just deny all http downloads via the Firewall. It’s not foolproof but it helps.
BTW, Weather bug installs other software without your permission, gums up your system resources and sucks up bandwidth as it calls home on a regular basis and displays pop up ads on your desktop.
Forgot to add to that:
…then they drag me away form important problems and complain their system is slow, crashes or takes forever to boot up.
Weatherbug interfered with email in our case.
I don’t understand why anyone would want to use Weatherbug. Just download Firefox and get the ForecastFox extension.
I’ll second what RumMonkey said and add that in my IT experience, people that have Weatherbug on their PC spend every *5 damn minutes * checking the weather instead of actually working.
