My Homepage - Earthlink- is too wide for my window. Internet Explorer. Scrolling up and down I don’t mind, but that left to right shit is a real pain in the ass. How can I make the page and window compatible? (earthlink computerized response was useless)
I think the easiest way is to increase your screen resolution. Type “screen resolution” into your computer’s help search box and it should bring up directions on how to change the resolution.
I don’t know if this works in IE, as never use it, but in Firefox, you can change the size of any screen just by holding down CTRL and then the + or - key.
Worth a try to see if IE does this.
My solution to this problem is much simpler: Pick another homepage. I use Google. Loads quickly and is the page I’m most likely to need if I’m opening a new browser window.
If I’m on the right page, I have the same issue. I scrolled over–there’s nothing
on the right anyone would want anyway. Actually, there’s nothing on the left anyone would want either.
So set your homepage to the center of all knowledge, the SD discussion boards. There’s still something over to the right, but the scrolling is worth it.
Opera has a nifty “fit to window width” button that tames those unruly webpages.
Earthlink is my ISP and the homepage is my “personal start page” that I have set up to my liking. I really don’t want to change to a different homepage. Wish they had one of those Opera buttons that Manduck mentions. Guess I’m stuck with back and forth.
Not really. I understand your wanting to keep your homepage, but there is no reason a’tall to keep the stupid IE. You can download the free Mozilla, Firefox or Opera, all vastly superior to IE, and the price is right. You’ll love all the features that make life easier.
If you do this, don’t uninstall IE, however, as there are some stupid programs that won’t install unless it’s on your computer, even if you never use it again.
