WebSense

Maybe this is a better forum and phrasing.

How can one not disable, but work around WebSense?

There’s a Perl CGI program called CGIProxy that you would set up on your home computer (you also need a web server). Once it’s installed, all web sites you access on your Websense computer are relayed from your home computer, and all links are converted use your home computer’s IP address. To WebSense, it looks like you’re accessing just one non-restricted server.

Now I’m wondering if I should have left this one alone.

Did you not get the clue when you asked the same question in GQ and the thread was locked? SDMB is not the proper forum to ask questions about defeating your employer’s policies.

How is discussing methods of fighting internet censorship wrong if I may ask? What if the dude is going to China for a month and does not want his news filtered or something? I didn’t read the other thread, but anything that messes up peoples ability to control access to information is a good thing and should be discussed in detail.

Faldureon, IMHO he’s using a company computer to goof off. As I am. Fortunately for me, the SDMB isn’t blocked, although my dojo is (for “weapons”). He’s trying to use something he doesn’t own for something the owners don’t want it used for, and they’ve set measures in place to keep that from happening. If he circumvents those measures, it’s not called “freedom.” It’s called “stealing,” and it does not look good on the end of quarter review.
